beneath my scars

Ryan’s invitation had surprised Isabelle, a warm smile curving her lips as she promised to attend his birthday celebration. The anticipation had grown with each passing day, until the D-day finally arrived. As Isabelle stepped into the restaurant, excitement danced in her eyes, but it quickly transformed into shock as she saw Kylian, Gabriel, and Tracy seated at the same table with Ryan.

Confusion evident in her expression, Isabelle couldn’t hold back her question, “What are they doing here?” Ryan’s calm response shattered her expectations, “It’s their birthday too, we’re triplets, do you know them?.” The revelation hit her like a tidal wave, and tears welled up in her eyes. The once-gleaming birthday cake in her hands turned into an instrument of her frustration, her actions mirroring the storm inside her heart. Without thinking, she grabbed the cake and slammed it onto Kylian’s head. The frosting-covered triplet stared at her in shock, his face a mixture of surprise and anger. Isabelle turned and headed for the door.

Turning to Gabriel, Isabelle’s voice trembled with emotion, “Your Kylian turned me into a monster, your Kylian made me smash your guitar. So, if you need an apology, get it from him. And you, Ryan, don’t bother coming into my life.” Her words were a torrent, fueled by a mix of anger, betrayal, and sadness. The connection she had felt with Ryan now felt severed, a harsh reality she had to face.

With swift steps, she left the restaurant, the sound of her car engine breaking the silence that had followed her departure.

Later, back at their home, the weight of Isabelle’s anger hung heavily in the air. Tracy, unable to bottle up her own feelings, confronted Kylian, demanding an explanation for his actions. Gabriel and Ryan’s stern faces added to the pressure, encouraging Kylian to break his silence. “I’ve already apologized to her,” Kylian finally admitted, his voice carrying a hint of remorse.

Tracy’s outburst was unexpected, her voice rising in frustration, “I don’t think the apology is enough. You really messed up with Isabelle. How would you feel if another man treated me that way?” The raw honesty in Tracy’s words struck a chord, her pain resonating with everyone in the room.

Gabriel, trying to bridge the gap, looked at Kylian with a mix of understanding and curiosity, “Isabelle is a sweet girl, but tell us, Kylian, when did you create that monster in her?” The question held a deeper meaning, urging Kylian to reflect on his actions and their consequences.

As the room fell into a heavy silence, the conversation hung in the air like a challenge. It was a moment of reckoning, a chance for Kylian to confront the truth behind his choices and find a way to mend what he had broken.

They call her a monster. Not behind her back. Not with whispers. They say it plainly, like fact. Cold. Harsh. Heartless. The kind of woman who’d let the world burn as long as the fire kept her warm. But Rhea knows people. Knows them better than they know themselves. She sees the fault lines in […]
