beneath my scars

Ryan and Gabriel exchanged concerned glances as they stood on Isabelle’s doorstep, only to find her absence echoing within the quiet house. Perplexed, they turned to Isabelle’s neighbors, who revealed that she had embarked on a journey of unknown length, leaving her home behind for the time being. Disheartened, Ryan sank into the car seat while Gabriel attempted to console him.

“Gabe, I know you’ve been holding onto your anger towards Isabelle for the incident with your guitar,” Ryan said gently, his voice carrying a touch of empathy. “But there might be more to this than we realize.”

Gabriel sighed, his eyes distant. “I just can’t shake off the frustration, Ryan. I loved that guitar. It meant a lot to me.”

Ryan nodded understandingly. “I get it, man. But let me tell you something that might change your perspective.”

As Ryan explained, Gabriel’s expression transitioned from confusion to shock. The realization that Kylian’s actions might have played a role in Isabelle’s transformation shattered the foundation of his anger. “You mean, Kylian had something to do with all this? But how?”

Ryan leaned in, his voice hushed. “Gabe, I’ve been angry at Isabelle too for ruining your guitar. But the truth is, Kylian manipulated her. He’s the reason she changed, not just because she wanted to, did you see how she flared up when she saw Kylian at the restaurant, how she told you to get the apology from Kylian, you don’t know who I took the hospital, I don’t know what Kylian did but I know it’s deep to subject someone to such kind of hatred and pain”

Gabriel’s eyes widened, his anger replaced by a mix of concern and curiosity. “We need to find out more about this, Ryan. We can’t just let Isabelle suffer because of Kylian’s actions, Kylian is making it more difficult as he won’t say what happened between the both of them, all he keeps saying is that he has apologized.”

Later that evening, the atmosphere at Tracy’s home was somber. She returned, her sadness evident in her drooping shoulders and distant gaze. Ryan and Gabriel, concerned for her well-being, attempted to pry gently into her emotions.

“Hey, Tracy, you seem really down,” Ryan said, his voice gentle. “Is there something bothering you?”

Tracy attempted a smile, though it didn’t quite reach her eyes. “I appreciate your concern, guys, but I’m okay. It’s just been a tough day.”

Kylian, who had been listening from the corner, couldn’t restrain his curiosity. “Tracy, you can talk to me if something’s bothering you. We’re siblings, after all.”

Tracy’s eyes flashed, her voice edged with frustration. “Siblings? Is that what you call it? Kylian, you’re the reason Isabelle left everything behind and transferred to a different university! I can’t even comprehend what you did that pushed her to relocate to a different country!”

Her words hung in the air, tense and accusing. Kylian’s expression morphed from curiosity to surprise, and then to something deeper—an understanding that he had been caught in a web of consequences. Tracy stormed off, her footsteps echoing up the staircase as she retreated to her room.

As silence settled over the room, Ryan shot a look of incredulity at Kylian. “What on earth happened between you two, what did you do to her Kylian, I don’t know how long you intend to hide this but one day you will surely speak?”

Kylian’s shoulders slumped, guilt etched across his face. “I never meant for this to happen. Isabelle and I had some disagreements, but I had no idea it would lead to this. I’ve got to make things right.”

The evening sun cast long shadows as the weight of untold truths hung in the air. The puzzle pieces were slowly coming together, revealing a more intricate story than anyone could have anticipated. Emotions swirled—anger, sadness, guilt, and a glimmer of hope for resolution.
